1000 Hours


The primary objective of the Cosmetology curriculum is to prepare students for the state licensing examination necessary to become a licensed cosmetologist in Texas.  This 1500-hour course includes cutting, styling, hair coloring, makeup, facials, manicuring, pedicures, permanent waving, scalp, hair treatments, and other related subjects.


The Cosmetology course is a 1,000-clock hour course that covers the sciences of beautifying and improving the complexion of skin, hair and nails.  This curriculum includes practical hands-on training as well as theory.  This program also incorporates business training education.  The skills learned through this program, prepares students for entry level positions within the field of Cosmetology.
The core component of the course consists mainly of classroom instruction and basic mannequin practice. 

After students successfully meet the following requirements, the remaining months consists of hands-on practice on student salon customers.  The theory and practical courses are taught using a combination of instructional methods to meet the needs of different learning styles to include demonstrations, mannequin practice, lectures, guest speakers, projects, activities and audio/visual aids and textbook instruction.
